Does your spouse complain of your ice cold feet in the bed?
Women are more likely to have cold feet especially at bedtime. You don't need to be too concerned if you are healthy and don't have any medical problems. It could however be a symptom of a serious health condition.
Cold Feet can be a sign for one of the following:
- Poor blood circulation
- Low iron
- Thyroid issue (an under-active thyroid - especially women over the age of 40)
If you are otherwise healthy, then it is likely poor blood circulation, especially if you have limited physical activity throughout the day.
How to prevent Cold Feet?
- Wear warm socks and slippers around the house (don't walk barefoot)
- Stay active and avoid a sedentary lifestyle
- Wear compression stockings – to help with proper circulation
- See your doctor to check your iron levels and proper thyroid gland function
- Quit smoking as it causes poor circulation, leading to cold feet along with other issues
